Somerset Sports Therapy
Sports Therapy and Sports Massage
Sports Therapy involves the management and the care of people injured through sport or everyday life...Various techniques, like sports massage or remedial massage are used to treat musculoskeletal injuries that may be causing you discomfort and pain.
Sports therapists advise lots of different people on suitable training programmes and how to prevent sports injuries and how to regain good posture.
Sports Therapy and sports massage can also help you recover from injuries, improve your sporting performance and provide advice and help with your rehabilitation program to get you back to your favourite activity.
You do not need to be an elite athlete to get sporting advice, you may be someone who enjoys being fit or you may just exercise for fun, but the right advice can improve your performance and help you to reach your goals.
You may not even play sport...you can be a healthy person who loves gardening or lots of walking and staying fit but occasionally you get those days when everything feels tight and sore, knotty muscles and lower back pain. This is when massage is amazing for alleviating these aches and pains.
My aims are to make your life more comfortable and to feel more relaxed. I will look to find the root cause of your pain and to conduct an in-depth initial consultation and look at a treatment plan that works for you and gets you results. It may be that you are just looking to return to sport, you may have just injured yourself playing a sport or you may just have injuries that now have stopped you playing your favourite sport or going for that daily loved walk.
It just may be that you have aches and pains that need some help to be alleviated.
Sport means fitness, health, positivity, vitality, ambition and success.

Sports/remedial massage is very good with helping to reduce the feeling of fatigue in muscles, release tension, lengthen tight muscles, break down scar tissue and create a relaxed balance to the musculoskeletal system.
Very often when we compete in any sport we are expected to perform at our best and perform alongside a training program, as we progress our training efforts progress which in turn will lead to overuse of the muscles. It is overuse that causes imbalances in the soft tissues, this then affects your performance.
This is where sports massage can help, this involves the manipulation of muscles and other soft tissues to ensure that they are working correctly. Massage helps to break down knots and scar tissue, stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation. This combined effect helps the removal of any waste from the body. Massage releases tension and restores balance to the musculoskeletal system and when received on a regular basis this will help to prevent and detect any injuries prior to them becoming an issue, thus, in turn, creates a reduction in stress, fatigue, and injury.
Sports massage can also help with flexibility and by lengthening the muscles encourages an improved range of movement.
